15 Weeks leading up to the largest 5K run/walk raising money for breast cancer program in this state for her 15th Anniversary!
The 2nd 15 for 2015 Spotlight
Mother & Daughter breast cancer survivors
A story of two women under the recommended screening age with one thing in common- family.
Our story starts with Wanda Allen
"I
was 30 years old when I was pregnant and then diagnosed with breast
cancer, it was 1988. On June 15, 1988 I had my right breast removed and
on Nov 15, 1988 I delivered my beautiful baby girl Jasmynn. I chose to
start the chemo on my birthday so I would always remember. I started 6
months of chemo on Dec 28th and my last chemo was on my father's
birthday May 1989. He had passed away on July 27 1988 of colon cancer. Then 26 years later Jasmynn came to me with a lump on her right breast. The appointment was made and she too was diagnosed with breast cancer."
Our story continues with Jasmynn Allen
"When
my mother was pregnant with me she found out she had breast cancer, she
was 30 years old. Two weeks before my 26th birthday I was diagnosed
with breast cancer. Nov 21, 2014 I had both my breasts removed. Because
of my age I have a higher chance or recurrence. In Jan 2015 I will be
starting chemo, my port is in and I am ready. My mother and I are both Survivors!
